I don’t know about you, but I am so thankful to be living in this day and age where talking about mental health is more acceptable!
Trust me, I’m very aware that we have a long way to go, but I’m so glad that at least there is more awareness on the subject.
What Is mental health? Webster’s definition states: a person’s condition with regard to their psychological and emotional well-being. To simplify, how well are you coping with the internal and external factors of your life?
Internal factors may include how you perceive yourself? Are you a confident person or do you suffer from low self-esteem? Do you have a negative mindset?
External factors may include your family and close friends. Do you have a good support system or are they holding you back? Does your community and social activities contribute in a positive way? Things like culture, religion, politics etc. may also play a significant role in your mental wellness.
These type of questions often go unanswered in our everyday living. We get too busy with all our “Stuff” to realize that each part of our lives is important and needs to be examined regularly.
The same way we exercise to get fit and healthy, we have to treat our minds the same way. It takes exercise and discipline to achieve good mental health! If we change our mindset, we can change our lives!
